Who says todays young people dont care about politics? Not West Virginia Universitys Young Democrats.

The student political organization is sponsoring Democrat Days a week of”Meet the Candidate”forums April 3-7 on the WVU campus. The theme for the event will be A New Generation of Voters for the New Millennium, according to organizer Jeremy Slaughter.

Candidates for local and state public office will talk to students about issues of concern to them; question-and-answer sessions will follow the presentations.

All events will be from 7-9 p.m. in the Mountainlair.

  • Monday, April 3 Secretary of State candidates Joe Manchin, Bobby Nelson, Mike Oliverio and Charlotte Pritt, Shenendoah Room
  • Tuesday, April 4 Secretary of State and U.S. congressional candidate Ken Hechler, state Treasurer John Perdue, Monongalia County Sheriff candidates Joe Bartolo and Tony Barill (I) and Monongalia County Commission candidate Albert Anderson, Shenandoah Room
  • Wednesday, April 5 State Auditor Glen Gainer, Supreme Court candidates Joseph Albright and Bob Bastress and House of Delegates candidates Bob Beach, Eugene Claypole, Barbara Evans Fleischauer (I), Nancy Houston (I), Steve Malcolm, Charlene Marshall (I) and Diane Parker, Shenendoah Room
  • Thursday, April 6 Gubernatorial candidate Jim Lees, Rhododendron Room
  • Friday, April 7 Former Supreme Court Justice Margaret Workman, Laurel Room

Other events will include a performance by a political satirist Thursday night and Political Jeopardy Friday night in conjunction with the WVUp All Night program.
