West Virginia Universitys Office of Service Learning Programs (OSLP) will hold its 2nd annual Service Learning Fair Monday, March 13, in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. Service learning displays will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. An 11:30 a.m. awards presentation and a 3 p.m. panel discussion are also planned.

“We are committed to helping students and faculty engage in service learning,”said Dr. Susan Hunter, OSLP director.”We are the link between the faculty who incorporate service learning requirements and the students who are looking for placements for class requirements.”

OSLP program assistant Mary Lou Payne added,”We want to make the public aware that volunteering helps our community, and of the breadth of support given by the WVU student population.”

OSLP will be offering three $250 Service Learning Awards: an award for the best service learning personal essay by a WVU student, an award to a WVU faculty member whose syllabus incorporates the best service learning activity and an award to a community organization demonstrating the highest level of service learning partnership with WVU .

Presidential Service Awards will also be presented to WVU students who have participated in at least 100 hours of community service.
