West Virginia University’s New Student Services will once again be hosting open houses called Mountaineer Visitation Days (MVDs). These are individual, specialized days for high school juniors, seniors and college transfer students. Both students and their families are invited to get a true feel for college life at WVU .
The first Mountaineer Visitation Day of the semester will be for high school seniors on March 6. College transfer students are invited to Transfer MVD on April 3, and high school juniors may attend Junior MVDs on April 24 or June 19.
As WVU ’s guest for the day, participants will receive a wide array of valuable information from faculty, staff and current WVU students. Students and their families participate in activities that range from a campus tour, to lunch in the residence halls and entertainment by WVU students. Academic interest sessions, which allow students to visit with the various academic schools and colleges, as well as other campus units, also will provide valuable information.
Students and parents then have the option to attend three of six information sessions offered, during which they will listen to an in-depth presentation on subjects ranging from Housing and Residence Life to Financial Aid. At the end of the day, participants can choose from optional activities such as a ride on the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) or attending a class with a current WVU student.
“By planning individual days for incoming students and their families, we allow them the opportunity to personalize their visitation day by choosing the sessions and activities that interest them,”said Wes Williams, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and Services.”Mountaineer Visitation Days have been very successful in the past and we are looking forward to another great spring semester.”
