Three West Virginia University students are in the hunt tonight (Feb. 10) for the prestigious title of Mountaineer.

Allen Harrison, an exercise physiology sophomore from Sissonville; Adam Knauff, a senior industrial management systems engineering major from Charleston; and Scott Moore, a sophomore animal and veterinary science major from Barrackville, were selected from a field of six. The applicants were interviewed earlier this week by Mountain Honorarys Mountaineer selection committee.

Applicants were judged on leadership qualities, academics, a personal essay and an interview.

“We’re looking for someone who not only is a leader and well respected on campus, but someone who is enthusiastic and truly represents the state and its people well,”commented Phil Caskey, a graduate student in sports management who co-chairs the selection committee.

Each will be given 10 minutes during tonights mens basketball game versus Pitt to display their enthusiasm and Mountaineer pride.The order of their appearance will be randomly selected prior to tip-off.

Current Mountaineer Brandon Flower will resume mascot duties for the final portion of the game.

The new Mountaineer will be named at the Feb. 22 WVU -Miami mens basketball game in Charleston.
